General & Subscriptions

What are the system requirements?

To watch videos on thegnomonworkshop.com you must be connected to the Internet. Our player automatically adjusts video quality based on your connection speed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Chrome 100+, Firefox 100+, Safari 15+, or Edge 100+
  • macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, Windows 10 or later
  • Broadband connection of 5 Mbps or greater

Recommended for the best experience:

  • Latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
  • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, Windows 11 or later
  • Broadband connection of 15 Mbps or greater

Mobile: Mobile Safari (iOS 16+) or Chrome for Android (Android 10+)

Can I try The Gnomon Workshop before I subscribe?

Yes! We've made the first 1–2 lessons of every workshop available for free, so you can get a feel for each instructor's style before subscribing. Head to thegnomonworkshop.com/subscription when you're ready.

Do I have access to everything with a subscription?

Absolutely! With any subscription — Monthly or Annual — you get unlimited access to all 350+ video workshops and 1,500+ hours of training in our library, including downloadable project files where available.

Are there any limits to how much I can watch?

No! As long as you have an active subscription and an internet connection, you have 24/7 unlimited access. There are no time limits or viewing restrictions for active subscribers.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancelling stops recurring payments, but your subscription stays active until its expiry date. Cancel at least three days before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next cycle. You can cancel anytime via SUBSCRIPTION in your Account Settings.

How do I change my subscription plan?

You can change your plan at any time by editing SUBSCRIPTION in your Account Settings.

Can I give a subscription as a gift?

Yes! Gift 1, 3, 6, or 12 months at thegnomonworkshop.com/gift. Your recipient will receive an email with their gift card and redemption instructions, and you'll receive a receipt by email.

Can my friend and I share logins?

No. Our system is tied to one user per email and credit card. Sharing your account could result in termination. Please review our Terms and Conditions. For group access, see our Team License options on the Subscription page.

Content & Tutorials

Are your tutorials downloadable?

No. The Gnomon Workshop library streams content via the library's integrated player.

What bandwidth does your service require?

Our tutorials stream at the optimal quality for your connection speed. We recommend a minimum of 5 Mbps for standard playback and 15 Mbps or higher for the best HD experience.

How do the project files work? Can I download them?

Project files help you practice a lesson or deconstruct an instructor's workflow. When available, they can be downloaded as a .zip archive from the Tutorial Page by clicking the Download Project Files link.

Can I use project files in commercial work?

Project files are for educational purposes only. They may be used in personal work provided credit is given to The Gnomon Workshop and the instructor. They cannot be used in commercial work.

Can I pick up where I left off watching a tutorial?

Yes. Click the Dashboard tab under your name in the upper-right corner to see your viewing history and resume from where you left off.

Do I get a certificate for completing a tutorial?

We do not currently offer certificates for tutorial completion.

How do I build a playlist?

Click New Playlist, add the playlist details, and click Create Playlist. Your playlists are private to you.

Billing & Payments

What credit cards do you accept? Can I pay by check?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club. We do not accept PayPal, checks, or wire transfers for individual accounts.

Is my credit card information safe?

Our payment provider Stripe uses industry-standard SSL encryption to protect your card details. Only orders from secure, SSL-enabled browsers are accepted, and all transactions are processed on Stripe's secure servers.

Is my personal information kept private?

The Gnomon Workshop never sells customer information to third parties. Your email is used only for order confirmations and subscription updates. To request data deletion, contact support@thegnomonworkshop.com.

What is your refund policy?

All sales are final and non-refundable. Please review your order carefully before submitting. If you encounter a technical problem, we will do our best to resolve it quickly.

How do I use a coupon code?

Enter your promotional code at checkout. Common reasons a code may appear invalid:

  • Codes are case-sensitive — check for typos
  • The deal may have expired
  • The code is a first-order welcome discount only
  • You're attempting to combine promotional offers

If you see "Invalid Coupon", click inside the coupon field, select all, press delete to clear any hidden spaces, then re-enter your code. Still having trouble? Contact support.

Can I order over the phone?

For single-user licenses, subscribing online is best. Studios or institutions interested in multi-user subscriptions can process Purchase Orders via our Contact Form.

Do you offer academic pricing?

Yes. We have Team Licenses available for schools and libraries. For a no-obligation quote, please submit a quote request and a team member will get back to you as soon as possible.

Team Licenses

How do I qualify for a Team License?

A Team License suits any team of 2 or more artists at a company or educational institution. It scales to accommodate hundreds or thousands of artists across multiple groups or departments. Contact us for a quote.

What are the benefits of a Team License?

Each Team License includes a unique subdomain (e.g. yourcompany.thegnomonworkshop.com). Your Team Administrator has full control over users — inviting, assigning, and revoking access, usage tracking, and creating playlists.

Every user gets their own login with 24/7 access to our full library of 350+ workshops. The Administrator Dashboard also allows purchasing additional seats and running usage reports.

How do I request a quote for a Team License?

Click the Request a Quote button on the Subscription page.

How do I manage licenses?

A Team License is valid for 1 year from purchase and auto-renews annually if paid by credit card. You can cancel at any time to stop auto-renewal while retaining access through the purchased period. Cancellations mid-term are not eligible for pro-rated refunds.

Additional seats purchased mid-term are prorated to align with the original expiry date. For pricing questions, contact us.

How do I manage users?

The Administrator Dashboard lets you invite users by email. Once they accept, you can assign their license seat (active immediately), revoke access, monitor viewing activity, and create or assign Teams. For bulk invites, upload a .csv file to invite users at once.

How do I manage teams?

In the Administrator Dashboard you can create Teams (or groups) and organize users by specialty or department. Teams are managed from a dropdown in your account dashboard, with easy options to add teams and move users between them.

What can a Team Administrator do?

A Team Administrator can assign and revoke license seats, rename and manage users within their Team, and create Playlists for Team members.

A Team Administrator cannot edit usernames or passwords, delete user accounts, invite new users, create new Teams, buy additional seats, or access billing and invoicing details.

How do Team Playlists work?

Team Administrators can create Playlists for the Teams they oversee and enable access for specific Teams from within the Administrator Dashboard.

How do I view usage history?

Click USAGE HISTORY from the account dropdown menu. You can view all users on your account and filter by single or multiple users to see their full activity history.

Login & Passwords

How do I change my password?

Log in to your account and navigate to the Account Settings page to update your password.

Can I log in from any computer?

Yes — you can log in from any internet-connected device. However, you can only be logged in on one device at a time.
