Liane Xuelian Li

Freelance Digital Matte Painter

Liane Xuelian Li is a Freelance Senior Digital Matte Painter with over a decade of experience in the visual effects industry. She began her career in 2013 as a Prep Artist before transitioning to matte painting two years later, following her passion for world-building through digital painting.


Since then, she has worked at leading studios on high-profile projects such as How to Train Your Dragon, Dune: Part Two, Black Panther, Deadpool 2, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

  • Liane is a truly gifted matte painter. The level of detail and artistry she brought to her work on Extrapolations was breathtaking. She's incredibly talented, super-efficient, crazy fast, and has an amazing eye for composition. If you get the chance to learn from her, take it.
