Ron Lemen is a versatile artist and educator with a career spanning over three decades. He began in the action sports industry, creating layout designs, logos, and board graphics. Seeking to deepen his artistic skills, he pursued classical training under the atelier system, studying with Spanish portrait artist Sebastian Capella.
Ron has contributed to various industries, including video games, film, comics, and publishing. His clients have included Sony, Activision, Ubisoft, Mattel, Blizzard, Time Warner, Wizards of the Coast, Marvel Comics, and Disney. His work encompasses concept design, illustration, and art direction.
As an educator, Ron has taught at institutions such as the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) and The Art Department (TAD). He co-founded Studio 2nd Street in Encinitas, California, with his wife, artist Vanessa Lemen, offering instruction in classical foundations, fine art painting, illustration, and conceptual design. Through their platform, Lemenaid, they provide online classes, mentorship programs, and instructional resources.
Ron is one of the most gifted teachers in the field of entertainment. His art speaks for itself and his ability to educate runs just as deep. Ron is a passionate artist with an innate gift for communicating complex creative theory into easily understood theory. When I run into Ron's students, the comments are always the same, 'Ron is the best teacher I've ever had.'. No doubt you too will learn a lot from him.
